About

“14ers” are mountain peaks that rise over 14,000 feet in elevation — Colorado is home to 58 of them, more than any other state.

58Peaks is a tribute to Colorado’s legendary 14ers — a print series that transforms each of the state’s 58 iconic summits into timeless, museum-quality prints.

Born from a love of wild places, long hikes, and vintage design, 58Peaks celebrates the spirit of the mountains through art. Each poster captures the unique personality of a peak — from the accessible beauty of Mount Bierstadt to the dramatic skyline of Mount Sneffels — rendered in a bold, nostalgic style inspired by classic national park prints.

This project is for climbers, collectors, dreamers, and wanderers — anyone who’s felt the pull of a summit or the peace of a ridgeline sunrise. Whether you've stood atop all 58 or are just beginning your journey, these prints offer a way to relive the climb and bring the mountains home.

The Prints

All 58Peaks posters are:

  • Printed on thick, archival matte paper
  • Designed with a vintage-inspired aesthetic
  • Made to honor the beauty, effort, and memory of each mountain

Each print is part of a growing collection — one for every peak. Display them as personal trophies, gifts for fellow adventurers, or as a complete gallery of Colorado’s greatest heights.

The Process

Artist/Creator Karl Steltenpohl "I carefully consider each peak, using a mix of curated and original photography and field reference. The artwork is made using a blend of traditional design techniques, usually photoshop and/or illustrator, and modern digital tools, honoring the classic WPA-era aesthetic while giving each summit its own unique voice."

Why I Climb

"I’m hiking all 58 of Colorado’s 14ers and creating a poster series to honor them, one peak at a time. This project started with a deep love for the mountains — the way each summit feels like its own world and every climb tells a different story. While I’m committed to summiting all 58, the posters don’t come out in the same order I hike them; some are released early because they’re iconic or accessible, while others may come later based on season, location, or artistic rhythm. This is more than just a poster series — it’s a way to honor the land, support the places we explore, and celebrate the journey, whether you’ve climbed one 14er or all 58."
